Fair Play Quartet is a band which links two, initially contradictory music genres: popular and classical music. The quartet is mainly focused on playing POP music on classical, string instruments, which is quite a unique combination.
Fair Play Quartet tours worldwide. In 2012 the musicians were invited by the Emir of Qatar to play the special concert during the Festival of the East European Music, which took place in the capital of Qatar – Doha. The band performed in numerous European cities, such as Vilnius, Leipzig, Dresden, Ljubljana and Berlin, often in prestigious venues (such as Großer Sendesaal des RBB or The Ljubljana Castle). On April 2014, Fair Play Quartet toured in China for 2 weeks. The quartet played 6 concerts in widely acclaimed venues with the capacity exceeding 1000 people – in Shanghai, Beijing, Xuzhou and Chongqing. Fair Play Quartet is also the first foreign band to perform in the state-of-the-art Grand Theatre in Baotou.
All the musicians are the alumni of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. They collaborate on the regular basis with the top Polish orchestras – National Opera, Sinfonia Iuventus, Sinfonia Varsovia, Sinfonia Viva, Polish Radio Orchestra.
The quartet has been often invited to participate in the events hosted by the President of Poland and First Lady – Bronisław and Anna Komorowski. The band performed during the visit of the Royal Couple of Sweden, President of Turkey and the conference of the First Ladies in the EU. The quartet collaborates as well with embassies and Polish Institutes worldwide.
Fair Play Quartet is an acclaimed session band, which features on the albums by Halina Mlynkova, Janusz Radek, Kari Amirian, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Ewa Błaszczyk, Robert Janowski, Iza Kowalewska, Jarek Wist and many more. The musicians took part in the TV programmes, such as ‘Przebojowa Noc’ and ‘Złota Sobota’ which were broadcasted live on TVP1. Currently, the quartet records strings for one of the most popular TV programme – ‘Jaka to melodia’. The output of the quartet also includes film soundtracks and commercials (‘Jutro idziemy do kina’ directed by Michał Kwieciński). On September, 2013 the quartet was invited to participate in the recording session for display purposes during the FMF Master Classes for Young Composers. The session took place at the prestigious Alvernia Studios in Cracow and was led by Dennis Sands, Hollywood’s acclaimed sound engineer.
On December, 2013 Fair Play Quartet released the album ‘Carols’ with Christmas Carols arranged for a string quartet.
Since May, 2012, the 2nd violin is played by Justyna Milkiewicz.
